Before we met, we both firmly believed in destiny ... and it certainly came to pass in November 1997 when Pete's work colleague Steve was surfing the net at his home in Swansea, Wales. That night, he made "Instant Messenger" contact with Heidi, 200 miles east in a foreign place called England! The following day, at Pete's work, Steve mentioned to Pete that he'd "met" a "posh" girl on the internet called Heidi, and he'd e-mailed Pete's photo to her claiming it was him! And so .... our destiny was sealed!

One month later, on 27 December 1997, Pete suggested they go & visit the girl Steve had spoken of ceaselessly from the internet! Three hours on, they arrived at Heidi's business and wreaked havoc! Pete was armed with three plums and an orange elephant (who was later named "Pedro"!)! Everyone was bemused by the crazy antics of the wacky Welshmen from across the foreign border, this being a very "reserved" corner of England!

That night, the three of us visited "The Victoria" in Woodham, normally a sleepy local pub - but this was no normal night! Pete and Steve laughed so raucously that the pub regulars complained, but the landlord was so amused by the strangers that he incited further mirth by supplying "hanky pankies" and "spotted dicks" for dessert!

Just a few weeks later, on 22 January 1998, Heidi made her first of many visits to Wales. Pete immediately propelled Heidi to behold a breathtaking view of Swansea Bay .... and in an instant she was in love again - with Swansea, Wales!

As to Steve's intended romance with Heidi? Well, it never actually blossomed because Heidi was too smitten by Pete!

After we married in September 2001 Steve couldn't be happy for us. He's decided to be a complete arse and we haven't heard from him for years.

We now split our time between Wales and England - we both work weekdays in Surrey, England and at weekends we cuddle up at our rural retreat in Carmarthenshire, Wales!
